And on the eighth day the Lord created the Andrews Hamburger; and he saw that it was good.
The Andrews burger is about as close to a religious experience as this reviewer is ever likely to get. Andrews has been in Bridport St Albert Park since before Methuselah and has built up a reputation for delivering a divine fusion of meat, cheese bacon and bun.
The secret to Andrews' success is not in fancy ingredients - it's in their single-minded commitment to making every component the best it can possibly be. Thick juicy red tomato slices get a hint of spice and a brief stint on the hotplate. Lean, herbed patties are grilled till the edges are crunchy, then cheese is melted over the top for maximum gooiness. This is a special burger.
The trek to Albert Park is like a holy pilgrimage for so many Victorians, with some parishioners regularly travelling across town for their weekly burger blessing. It won't take more than a couple of bites for you to renounce your sins and become a convert.
Can I get an Amen?

A workmate made a big deal about this place and so one night we told him to go out and get us some. Well I was disapointed possibly due to all the hype. The burgers are competent but really they are no different or better than what you can get at any Fish & Chip shop. They are also way over priced!
I don't understand why this place is held in such high esteem. Like I said competent but no big deal.

I have visited this restaurant for the first time.Burger tastes very good.

Tastes a bit like a burger you'd make at home. Super fresh and good quality ingredients, but nothing too fancy in the sauce department - plus they don't do avocado which is a bit of a sore point for me.
A good feed but I wouldn't call it 'Gourment'.

I visited this place for the first time after reading a lot about it and hearing word of mouth. I have one word to describe the burger. Magnificent.
I'm a big eater, so I got to have two of Andrew's Burgers with the Lot. The patty was perfect, nicely seared, juicy, and nicely cooked through. The cheese tasty and runny, the egg perfectly cooked, not overdone, and not dripping. The bacon spot on, and tasty with very little excess fat. A dab of sauce (Macca's Take note, this is the right ratio of sauce to burger). Two massive chunks (slices don't describe the amount properly) of tomato, which had been grilled and seasoned before being put together with the other ingredients, and the lettuce and cabbage mix was a pleasant surprise, and really complemented the burger nicely.
A mention needs to be made of the service also. If you are running a service industry, send your employees here to get pointers on how to treat customers. I felt at home, in a place I've never even driven past before. Credit goes to the staff/owners.

I agree these guys are capable of an awesome burger. But after a couple of lacklustre experiences at Andrews I have to say that their consistency is pretty poor. The problem is, they get so busy on a Friday night that quality starts to slip. My last burger was a bit rubbery, and just not as tasty some of their previous attempts. Could it be Andrews is a victim of it's own success?
